I find PDF is good for certain things under certain conditions:
* Set the compression option to "Zip", rather than "JPG" to avoid lossy
image compression.
* Acrobat 4.0 seems to support large format pages better than Acrobat 3.0.
* Set display type according to purpose: on-screen vs printing

I like it for sharing maps where PowerPoint is not required/sufficient, for
taking to plotters.  PDF seems to work fine through most RIP engines; more
reliable than vanilla PS.
