Hi Alan
Mapinfo is stuck with a 256 character limit on a text string - at least for
now. What I have done in the past is use an image editor (I prefer PaintShop
Pro but just about anything that will write a bitmap will work) to create a
bitmap image containing the text. I then open the bitmap as a raster image
(display only) and place it in a frame in the layout window. You will have
to tinker a bit with this one (image size, font, image file format) to get
the output you want, but it is generally a decent way to get boilerplate
into a layout window.
Regards,
James

Subject: MI Maximum Text Limit
I have a situation where I am exceeding the maximum allowable text
limits for MI.
I am attempting to add in a fairly lengthy disclaimer that has to go onto
all mapping products & find that it can't be done all in one go. I have
tried unsuccessfully:-
- typing it in directly onto the layout window, (doesn't work as it exceeds
text limit),
- opening it up as a delimited ascii (.txt) file, (it opens up in columns) &
- typing disclaimer in sections, aligning it up as best possible & saving as
a table. Trouble is it has to be moved around & manipulated to suit on
different size maps. I guess my question simply is "Can the text limit be
altered say through Mapbasic?"
Cheers
