If you make a copy of your data, open it up, then open the mapbasic window and type
the following:
update <YourTableName> Set obj = CreatePoint(CentroidX(obj),centroidY(obj))
(Substitute in your table name), you will have a table where the polygons have been
replaced by points.

Can anyone tell me how to generate points from polygon centroids, and
automatically attach the polygon attributes to the newly generated point? I
can't remember if I have seen an MBX that does this?
