Nicely put.
>time I work with MapInfo I feel this "cross your fingers and
>hope it looks the same way next time" feeling. (Is it just me?)
No.
>(Does your Map menu have a redraw button the way help says
>it should?)
No, but it used to (at least I seem to remember it that way).
You can use Redraw by pressing Ctrl-D though.
>Your never-efficient-enough-for-my-own-expectations colleague
>(and efficiency is the real crux of why I'm annoyed),
Definately. Just yesterday I spent 3 hours printing ~75 workspaces.
Open workspace: adjust page size: (wait for abominally long refresh
which can't be ESCaped): print to file: type in workspace_name.prn:
wait: Close All: rinse, lather, repeat. Blech!
[btw: v5.5 saves the printer settings in the workspace, but only sort
of. What printer to use is saved, but page size is not (it always picks
the default page size). So don't upgrade only for that feature. Oh
yeah, buffering is m u c h s l o w e r in v5.5 too.]
Cheers,

ps: have fun in spain!
