MapInfo. I love it. I can't stand it. So many little (and some big) tweaks
it needs until I'm happy with it. I guess I'm way outdated here at version
5.0. Just noticed this help item below, which apparently isn't true.
(Should I upgrade from version 5.0?)
Also: I wish I could find the working version (or even any version) of
Kevin Mahoney's utility which lets you search and replace colors, symbols,
etc, and one attribute at a time: for instance change all green stars to
green diamonds. (Does anyone have it?)
I've launched so many MapInfo Annoyance discussions over the years I don't
feel like doing it any more, but just another note that every time I use
MapInfo it annoys me, and for all the same, old, same old reasons.
Granted, I'm still using it. As I said: I love it.
Am I the only one who makes extraordinary numbers of duplicate workspaces,
and duplicate datasets, for fear that if I do things as queries instead of
separate datasets, things'll get lost due to blown up workspaces? Every
time I work with MapInfo I feel this "cross your fingers and hope it looks
the same way next time" feeling. (Is it just me?)
(Does your Map menu have a redraw button the way help says it should?)
Your never-efficient-enough-for-my-own-expectations colleague (and
efficiency is the real crux of why I'm annoyed),
Margie
P.S. I'm going to Spain in December. If there are any folks from Spain on
this list who'd like to chat with the "Annoyance Lady" first-hand, let
me know. My Spanish isn't great, but I'm working on it.
