Sharon,

For the complete picture on all things Ordnance Survey GB check out the web
site (http://www.ordsvy.gov.uk). That will give you a pretty good picture of
what they have to offer and at what price etc. You will be approaching them
at an interesting time as they have recently announced fairly large price
reductions on many of the smaller scale data sets. Data pricing is finally
beginning to follow the US model - though still a long way to go. Land-Form
PANORAMA (see below) has certainly been affected by this change - dropped
from 20,000 to 5000 for complete UK coverage!

In brief the height data products you need will need to look at are the
"Land-Form" products - either "Land-Form PROFILE" (nominally 1:10 000 scale)
or "Land-Form PANORAMA" (nominally 1:50 000 scale). They come in 5km x 5km
and 20km x 20km tiles respectively. If you ask them nicely they may even
work out the number of tiles that cover Glasgow for you - a nice little task
for GISLab (sorry guys...its coming your way..!)

These products have both contour and DTM variants. They are not currently
available in MapInfo format - OS deliver them in either DXF or in their own
proprietary format NTF (National Transfer Format). I have heard a whisper on
the OS grapevine however that indicates that this situation may very well
change soon (soon being a relative term where Government bodies are
concerned!) with data being available in the more popular formats.

If you need any further info on these products (such as relative accuracies,
etc.) then mail me at any time. Alternatively speak to the OS Sales Desk on
