just a quick note to thank all those who replied to my request for UK coastal
map data. I was amazed to recieve such an immediate and helpful response.
Here's a quick summary of the information i was sent (which also included
several attached map files):
1. the MapInfo CD for the Europe dataset. It has a more detailed coastline
for Britain and Europe than the World map does.
2. DCW (Digital Chart of the World)

3. Crusty - http://crusty.er.usgs.gov/coast/getcoast.html) - you can extract
coastlines in MapGEN format and convert to MI format with a tool called
CoastConv.
I went for the Crusty option along with the conversion software, which is
ideal for my uses.
