I have not seen mentioned in this thread is that the file location
problem can be addressed by adding a directory to the
"Options>Preferences>Directories>Search Directories for Tables" list.
MapInfo Professional will then automatically search that directory
and any subdirectories when it doesn't find a table it's trying to
open.

So, let's say a workspace opens a bunch of tables from z:\data\mi
and then the workspace is moved to a new machine on which that data
directory is mapped as y:\foo\data\mi.  By simply adding
y:\foo\data\mi to the list, the workspace can be opened successfully
without any editing whatsoever.
