Hello List, Here are some selected resonses to my question (quoted below) about the software that can calculate some spatial autocorrelation stats. Many thanks to the respondents. P.G. Original Question: >I am looking for either some pre-written MI applications >or suggestions about other GIS programs that would handle >calculating such spatial stats as Moran Coefficient or Geary Ratios >based on polygon coverage. Response 1: We wanted you to be aware that Base TransCAD (US$2995) can create an adjacency matrix and then compute spatial autocorrelation, with Moran's I as the primary output. Response 2: There is a Brazilian free GIS named Spring that can manege some spacial stats functions. You can read about and download it in the following address: http://www.dpi.inpe.br/spring/ Response 3: For areal data see "SpaceStat" by Anselin. The software is a few hundred dollars for educators/academics. and it is a bit cumbersome to use so you would have to invest a little time to learn it. It runs in DOS using GAUSS. This all sound very complex but the output is very good and the program allows running/editing batch files. If you don't have the time, there are users such as myself who could help out for a small compensation, if all you need are single variable moran coefficients using various weight matrices. http://www.spacestat.com/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from this list, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MAPINFO-L" in the message body, or contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
