I am studing spatial index and spatial query applied in GIS
software.
I have studied Mapinfo. "id" file only contain record No. and
pointer. Thus it only can be used in query spatial information from attribute.
In "map" file, there exist "index block", which list MBR of all objects
sequently. WHere is its spatial index similar to R tree. I don't whether it use
spatial index or how to use it. Can you introduce to me?
I also look up ESRI white paper. "shx" is similar to "id". In
"shp" file, there is also no index tree. Even I cant find index block. Dont
it use spatial index?
