John Eliot had two GeoBasemap questions:

GeoBasemap maintains a library of text styles and the size the text should
appear at print scale. Based on the current plotting scale it calculates
the correct font size and does a global text style change.
Text will only appear to move if the font size changes changes dramatically
- this is a factor of how MI rezises fonts. The same thing happens when you
change font sizes through standard MI toolbars - it appears to hold onto
the top left hand corner rather than the bottom left like everyone elce. I
suggest you set you lable size a little smaller before you run autolabel so
the font size change is not so dramatic.
> 2. I set the scale of a map at 1:25,000, using Geopbasemap, but it prints
> at 10 percent larger, i.e. 1: 22,500. If I make the Geobasemap settings 1:
> 27,500 the printed result is at the desired scale of 1:25,000.
Our plot scaling tool needs to know the width and height of the current
mapper window. But when you have scrol bars set, MI lies to us about the
actual map area. (I am sure it does not really mean to ...)
Select Map/Options and turn off scolling . Then you will get a map at the
right scale.
