Dear List,

I have posted this question before but didn't get a definite answer. Perhaps someone
may be able to help me now.

I have an MBX which opens up lots of text files and converts them to mapinfo tables to
compare positions of particles. Sometimes lots of files have to be open at the same
time. When I have about 47/48 tables open I get an error message saying ' too many
files open, out of disk space while editing table.'
Is there a limit to the number of files that can be open at one time (I have version
5.5) ? Or is the limit to do with my PC or diskspace (It doesn't seem to be as I have
plenty of space).
The limit to the number of open files isn't always the same which makes me think that
it is not a MapInfo problem. But then again it could be that there is a limit to the
amount of disk usage and after that much is used up, no more files can be opened.
Could it be something to do with the fact that my files get their data from text files
and are not Base Tables ??

Does anybody have any ideas ?

Thanks very much for any help and thanks to all those that have replied to my previous
queries.

Elliot.
