This is a standard MI headache that appears to result from packing the table
being labelled. Apparently the label is linked to a rowid rather than to the
actual object (anyone feel free to correct me if I'm off base here), and
packing of course changes the rowid of all the objects.

While this behaviour can result from packing a table, it also frequently
occurs to workspaces that have been modified in any way, or sometimes just
looked at too hard :(
I've got a particularly large workspace where the labels are, on average,
screwed up about every third time I open it. A very frustrating experience
when you've spent several hours placing labels just right, and then the next
time you open the workspace they're all over hell's half acre.

Cheers,
Tim

Subject: MI Re: Custom Labels moving when loaded via workspace

Hi Everyone, I am currently experiencing a problem with labels not appearing
in their correct location. I have roughly 150 map/layout workspaces which
contain a layer with the labels check box on. A number of labels had to be
manually selected and moved for cosmetic reasons. However, when I run the
workspaces the custom labels have moved. Does anyone know of a quick and
dirty solution to this problem? Could modifications to the labels base table
influence the label placement?Thanks
EO
