Hi list, my current problem : ) lies in the realm of DEMs. As my luck would have it the project I am working on is centered right at the intersection of 4 quads. I am using 1:24000, 7.5' USGS DEMs (SDTS format). The problem appears when I proceed to merge the DEMs. Some of them leave unsightly borders from one to the next while others are nearly seamless. After applying relief shading to the merged file, the ones with the poorly aligned edges contain dark bands running horizontally across the image. However, the ones that lined up seamlessly shade very nicely.
At first I thought that perhaps the banded DEMs were in feet as they were in areas of lower relief but they turned out to be in meters as well. I would like to use the 1:24000 DEMs in my project as the 1 Degree DEMs are a bit too small scale. If anyone has any hints or fixes or experience with this, please email me..also..we are using MapInfo 5.5 and Vertical Mapper 2.1.1
Thanks for your time and suggestions!
Sincerely,
Jacob Bunt
