... or simply buy Manifold 4.5 from www.manifold.net for $170 US and you'll
solve your task as well as maaany related ones. In terms of functionality
when it comes to spatial analysis and GIS, it's a "pocket ArcInfo" (and
price-wise too!) Import MapInfo files, process them in Manifold, and bring
them back to MapInfo if you want.
