Thanks to Milo Simonic, Harry Clayton and George M. Smith for your help.

Basically the solutions to save/load legends are:

- save the template to a .thm file under the predefined directory "TMPLT" (which can be changed in the Preferences)

- save the wokspace

- save the cartographic legend to metadata associated with each tab

In my case the first solution is the best, because it does not imply to "touch" the original data and the user can modify the template.

But I prefer how ArcView manages legends/symbology because it enables to save a legend in a .avl file (not necessarily in one unique directory).

Now I must see if this is possible to do it in MapBasic.
Thanks very much.

Subject: MI: saving/loading legends to files

Hello MapInfo Gurus!

I am beginning to work with MapInfo/MapBasic (I have been working with ArcView till now). I would like to know if it is possible (and how) to save legends to files and load legends from files, something similar to the files ".avl" in ArcView. I need to use the same symbology for every layer and I need the posibility to configure it too.

Thanks very much.

I will sum of course!
