Hi Ian!
Let me try to help. Most of the time, the version stamp of the MB
compiler is only that, even if the code would run perfectly in an older
MapInfo version.
So it means if you could change the version stamp you could maybe use
the app anyway.

Mr Jacques Paris' multilanguage (MLC) project has a tool for that plus a
number of other useful utilities.
Check the website at

Look for VERMBX.zip, to read and change the version stamp of any  MBX.
This is a front end to a dll from Stopwatch Maps, the ftp address is in
the instructions.
