Ok, I have a question. How are MapInfo and your web browser
connected? I have a strange problem with MapInfo and Internet Explorer
interacting in some weird way.
I was trying to access a website on IE and it wasn't responding, so
IE was working trying to open the webpage. While that was happenning, I
openned MapInfo (ver6.0, but it happens with 4.12 as well) and tried to open
up a table. Well, the table refused to open and display and froze MapInfo.
Excel worked and so did Windows Explorer, but MapInfo was frozen. Then, as
soon as the web page loaded, *BAM*, MapInfo unfroze and the table loaded and
displayed.
It has also happenned the other way around, too. I was performing a
very large polygon splitting operation in MapInfo (which took about 15
minutes). While MapInfo was working on this large operation, I decided to
check out some website on IE. Well, I started to open IE, but froze just
before displaying the IE Splash Screen. I waited and waited for IE to open,
but it was hopelessly frozen. Then, as soon as MapInfo finished it's task,
*BAM*, IE opens right up!
I haven't seen this kind of connection between any two programs on
any of my computers other than with MapInfo and Internet Explorer. I guess
a good test wouldbe to see if the same problem happens with Netscape or any
other web browsers. Anyone else encountered this same problem?
