As well as the offerings listed from CDR and Dotted Eyes there is also
MapNTF from By Design.
MapNTF has been available since 1993 and has been constantly improved
over the years. It is now at Version 6 and offers the following
features.
It is we believe the only NTF translator to use MapInfos MIMFAL libray.
The advantages of this are :- it is the fastest translator and also it
is a single stage process with no intermediate files being created, and
in particular no mid/mif.The whole process is faster than just the
mif/mid import of its competitors.
It previews the maps as it translates. On a typical Pentium it is well
under a second per tile for full translation. It has always had "style"
files which allow you to select what feature code goes where eg 1 layer
per feature code or any other grouping.
The latest version, Version 6 includes a free copy of our product
ProPrinter for viewing and printing MapInfo workspaces and tables, with
particular emphasis on incorporation of watermark and OS copyright.
There are over 100 users of MapNTF within the UK. This includes police
forces, local authorities, National Parks and educational
establishments. There are special terms available through Eduserv for
the latter.
Annual maintenance is available under which updates to new versions are
included. By Design have been a MapInfo Strategic Partner since 1993 and
version 3 of MapNTF was designed to MapInfos specification for use
within the UK, hence the use of the MIMFAL library.

We are currently working on DNF and support for this will be
incorporated in future releases of MapNTF/ProPrinter.

straight on "major" products available for OS translation ! We believe
our product at least deserves a mention !
