Thanks to Nick, Jacques, Russel and Peter who all managed to reply to me
before (or v. soon after) I received my own query.!!
It is v.v. easy and almost ashamed for not knowing it, but if u don't use
mapbasic ....etc...
So to the summing
basically
set coordsys table MyTabName
update MyTabName set obj = CreateLine(start_x, start_y, end_x, end_y)
