The great thing about the Garmin receivers is that they record a bread-crumb
track into their memory automatically. You can also store "way-points" by
pressing on of the interface buttons. Garmin is becoming the consumer GPS
powerhouse for many personal and commercial GPS efforts. Simply, their PGPS
(Personal GPS) handhelds are value packed. You can even buy one now that is
WAAS correct (1-2m) versus SA=OFF (10-15m). PGPS saves having to haul a PC,
laptop or hardened laptop into the field.

WAAS accuracy)

Pretty much all Garmins can play back into your PC and MapInfo their
bread-crumb trails. Red Hen may also have one or two solutions for you.
Please take a look at:

FarmGPS will allow you to set point, line node, or polygon node sensitivity
from one to many seconds and/or based on distance from last node.

MediaMapper will do all of what FarmGPS does plus add spatial registration
of images, video and audio. Voice notes when tied to point object
vocabulary can automatically post-populate field logs.

Listers,

I have connected my Garmin GPS to my laptop and I can track my movements in
MapInfo using the Geotrack application (bundled with MI). I can manually
store my location using the GPS Point Geocode option within geotrack. What
I would like to do is automatically store my location (and time), say every
10 seconds. Is there an option I'm missing or is there another way of
copying effectively the track symbols to a table?

If there isn't an option, is there any code that a second MapBasic
application can use to either save the location or prompt geotrack to do a
'manual' geocode.

Failing this does anyone know of software that will do this.

Many thanks,

Ian Hull
