Some points to consider about PCensus for MapInfo:
1. PCensus is a fully integrated product with MapInfo Professional.
Describe your study area with circles, polygons or drive times directly
on a
map and watch the demographics being retrieved for that area - you are
assured the results are valid for that location.
2. Create readable, customizable reports that compare study areas, side
by
side for easy comparison.
3. Use PCensus to find target areas (block groups, ZIPs, etc.) that
match a
user defined demographic profile (e.g. "45-54 yrs, $100K income, Big-
screen
TV Fan").
4. Choose your demographics: Claritas Inc., Applied Geographic Solutions
(AGS) or any other source.
5. Add your own client data to the Census data for Market Penetration
Analysis. The linking is through a simple FIPS addition to the client
data
in any format.
6. Batch processing for any number of areas rapidly creates individual
reports.
7. 2000 Census data, at the block group level and higher, is free to
download from Tetrad's Internet site.
8. Very important final point. If you call Tetrad for support or
customization, you will speak directly to the developers and not a guy
in
the Tech Support Pool. As many of us have clients who wallow in the
world
of ESRI, the compatibility of PCensus to ESRI's products and their
extensive
knowledge of that interface provides a much broader world for a
multimapping
discipline shop.
