Jakob, I went into this, but didn't dare to go into DDE. The solution I use might seem a bit strange, but I send almost every command to MapInfo via Visual Basic via the object.do " ". The only code I compile as an MBX is the menu structure! ha ha! The other way around, I found a dll which lets me write MapBasic variables to the registry. I then retrieve these from within Visual Basic. Can this be of some help to you? I sent the sample code.
