Dear List

Thanks to everyone who answered my query. I did actually have the =
columns as "float" but the problem was more to do with an MI anomaly =
pointed out and summarised by the e-mail (below) I received from Martin =
Hodder (and several other people). The instructions in his e-mail =
worked perfectly!

Best wishes

Jacqui Foskett

Jacqui,

This is one of those anomalies of dear ol' MapInfo. Just because your =
map says it is BNG does not mean to say it is BNG!
=20
MI hold a separate internal coordsys which by default is Lat/Long.
=20
To change this simply go to your map window change the project to =
anything else and apply it. then change it back to BNG and then your =
update will work correctly!
=20
If you use BNG all the time then a lot of UK users would put the =
appropriate set coordsys clause in the startup.wor ( this is usually in =
the windows directory or if not you can create it)
=20
If you decide to do this then the statement you want is :-
Set CoordSys Earth Projection 8, 79, "m", -2, 49, 0.9996012717, 400000, =
-100000

Just use a text editor to put it into the startup.wor.
