You should consider the difference between a plotter and a printer. The 2500 is a
printer. A 450 on the other hand is a plotter. A plotter plots linework precisely on
the paper. It is not meant for colour images/photos. If precision placement of lines
is important to you, e.g. you are a surveyor, then you need a plotter. A printer,
like the 2500, does not have as high printing accuracy. It is used for plotting nice,
full colour images, but you would not make measurements off of the plots from the 2500.
Just some info.

We had the HP 2500 and recently upgraded to the 5000PS. The differences?
The print quality is significantly better, more ram, and it is lightening
fast!!! Processes and prints document so quick! Documents that used to
take an hour (spooling + printing), now takes 10 minutes. Seriously, it's
great.

Subject: RE: MI-L plotter question
It's pretty hard to go wrong with an HP750C loaded up with the maximum
onboard memory. The only reason I can see for needing the fancier models is
if you're in a production situation with dozens of maps to produce every
day.

Subject: MI-L plotter question
Hello List,
We are looking at purchasing a plotter and since it is a large =
investment we wanted to know about any personal experiences out there. =
We believe we have narrowed it down to an HP plotter. We do not seem to =
notice to much difference between the specs for a $12,000 plotter versus =
a $5,000 one. Perhaps someone can shed some light on this. We have no =
experience with an external RIP which seems to be required. Any help on =
this subject would be appreciated.
thanks,
Steven J. Murphy
