Advanced Wetland Photo-Interpretation

Workshop Description:

This three day workshop will cover: The development of a methodology for
mapping wetlands projects, an understanding of the NWI wetland and the
National Wetlands Research Center upland classification systems,
Photointerpretation of color infrared aerial photographs, the use of soil
surveys, topographic maps and historical wetland maps as aids in the
Photointerpretation process, techniques for groundtruthing, and
cartographic transformation of photointerpreted habitats to a standard base
map. This course will include classroom lecture, classroom exercises in
photointerpretation of habitats using a stereoscope, fieldwork,
cartographic transformation using a zoom transfer scope. An understanding
of the identification of wetland habitats from aerial photographs (*as
presented in the Introduction to Remote Sensing and Photointerpretation of
Wetlands) is essential for this workshop.

*Work related experiences can be substituted for the introductory workshop.
