Dear Paul (Syntegra) I don't think you should go away and hide!!
I think the metadata should be seamless too. I feel that the Table manager mbx is highly unintuitive (its obviously been designed by programmers for programmers!! - not, of course, that there is anything wrong with programmers only their brains work in different ways to people like me). Table Manager doesn't appear to work for any of my raster imagery - that could be me though. It says all my raster imagery is read only when it isn't. I have therefore not been able to use the Table Manager as an overall metadata management device and resort to putting the metadata in a clumsy Excel spreadsheet. I would like to see a more user-friendly and intuitive Table Manager (or at least one that has a better help file) that will allow you to input data on all the GIS files. The kind of information that is important for us is source, accuracy, various dates, owners etc. I would like this metadata to be viewable from Windows Explorer (a small file alongside the other dataset files) or within MI via the Table Manager. I would also (dream on) like to be able to make a compilation of all the information within each of those files for all my datasets at the press of a button - again either from Windows or from MI.
