I have similar problems with installing MapInfo 6.5 onto machines where the users don't have admin rights on their own machines., and their desktop is inherited from their group rights.
They get errors "Can't find MapInfo.pen" and others. Seems to work Ok fom there, but i'm sur that something will fail as a result.
