Dear listers, I am greatly in need of some technical advise...
We currently have MapInfo loaded on a server, with the client part installed on designated PCs. Although the software and data are on the server, it is the PC that does the processing. ProViewer is currently installed on individual PCs, accessing the same data as MapInfo over the network. It has been suggested that as an organisation we move to a "Terminal Server Environment" and may use Citrix. I know next-to-nothing about networks, but as I understand it this is where the PC acts as an interface, and logs the user into a processor server which does the processing, and so only sends a small amount of information (key strokes, visual display information etc.) between the user and server across the network. Has anyone had any experience of using MapInfo & ProViewer in such a way? Or does anyone know if it is possible, and if so how it might affect their stability, operation and performance. Will SUM Many thanks Karen ========================== Karen Purdy GIS Support Officer Peak District National Park Authority Aldern House Baslow Road Bakewell Derbyshire DE45 1AE Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Telephone (direct): 01629 816269 Tel (switchboard): 01629 816200 ========================== ________________________________________________________________________ This e-mail has been scanned for all viruses by Star Internet.
