Thanks for the tips: I found Arclink in an old MapInfo installation and it worked if you brought it in as non-earth (default) projection.
If you pressed the projection button, however, it caused Mapinfo to GPF. My problem is solved as the tables were just points, and include the x and y coordinates as fields in its database. I just recreate the points in the correct projection. I rarely have this problem as generally I insist on shape files. Robert.
