I am working with section line data in MapInfo 6.0 currently in a generic
Latitude/Longitude format. The table's projection property was set to
Category - Latitude/Longitude and the the Category
Member-Latitude/Longitude. No datum appears to have been specified and this
is where I believe the problem lies.

Another MapInfo table of parcels presently in NAD 1927, Michigan State
Plane, Central Zone was registered to the section line table. The section
line table was opened first and therefore therefore the mapper projection
was set to that base table's projection properties (Lat/Long). When the
parcel table is opened, it is reprojected on the fly and is coincident with
the section lines and section corners.

Because we also need to work in another GIS programs, I then attempted to
convert the section lines from Lat/Long to NAD 1927, Michigan State Plane,
Central Zone. In a new mapper, when you open the reprojected section lines
table with the parcel table, I discovered the section lines had "moved"
about 15 feet east from their original position with the parcel base. Can
anyone provide insight as to why?

My thoughts - Decimal precision - Is MapInfo a single or double precision
program? I wonder if rounding at the decimal is causing the problem. In
addition, how is MapInfo able to relate a table with no datum with one that
does?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide,
