I have asked this question many times without any luck, yes there are government websites where you can
download free DEM data - that's true. However, who wants to tile 20
of those to get national coverage. All of the national sites I have found have
GOTOPO30 or BIL data which I haven't been able to import to MAPINFO (having
played with the BIL data for days and trying to get a good HDR file). My
question is has anybody been able to find a free DEM for national coverage? Any
