With making new installations on my system I may have upset the delicate balance that seems to exist between MI (still v. 4.5) and my printer (HP DJ1120C). I've had problems in the past, but that's so long ago, I can't remember how I fixed them. I've experimented with a number of settings, but the problem does not go away:
After a few minutes of printing a normal map window, a message appears on screen saying that the printer does not recognize the data that are sent to it, and the printer stops soon afterwards, with a quarter page or so printed. Sometimes I do get a message about spooling (spool32 has performed an error) and I get the option to either 'close' or 'ignore' that message box. 'Close' throws me right out of MI, 'Ignore' will let the spooling continue, but there's no way of telling that the job is done properly. In any case the print comes out only half, or even less than that (and the bit I get looks perfect). I've tried printing to a .prn file (it gets about 7.5 MByte in size), but don't know how to get it printed afterwards. Trying in an MS-DOS window to copy the file to the printer port, results in a 'write fault error to LPT1'.
