I have been developing a workaround that will let me use Layout to create a
detailed map that can then be saved as a wmf and inserted into a document.
Layout allows much more detail in the finished product than using a map
window. Now Layout is set to page size (printer default), so I have been
setting the window size in proportion to the layout page, and then when the
map window contents are put into a layout, they can then be stretched to
cover the entire layout, including the grey non-printing area, since I am
saving the picture, not printing it.
I then save the layout with a custom horizontal measurement the same as the
width of the paragraph in my Word document. This seems to work OK- but is
there some simpler method I have missed out on?
