Hi All! So, the dreaded 255 string limitation has shown its ugly face again. We're still waiting for v7.0 here in Sweden - any improvements there?
Or, has anyone found a feasible way to link Access or Excel to with long character or memo type fields to MapInfo without the truncation? It seems as if MapInfo is compelled to create a copy of a linked table in it's own arcane dBase format, regardless of the linked source. How does this work when linking to Oracle? Do you have the same problem there? Or with MapX/MapXtreme? The total length of a record could, therefore, exceed the 4000 bytes maximum set by MapInfo. Try shortening the Text fields in Access to reasonable lengths. I tried to import a table (71 columns) and the message I get is "Unable to create New Table" I checked for repeated column names and everything is ok. I imported column by column and I get that message when imported column 37. If I import from column 15 to 71 and I don't have that message. Anyone know what kind of error message is this one? Where the "bug" can be?
