What I'm looking for is someone who has been working with this and their opinions. It has to be a software that can handle complex matters to begin with and from there on to be able to do custom solutions if it is to our liking and yes the algorithms is VERY important. Is there any existing software that will be able to do such a tasks or am I fumbling in the dark? time windows, load restrictions, several depots, several vehicle types, priorities for each customer, areas, drivers, GPS, geocoding, internet, network, databases, import - export functions, program speed etc. etc. you name it.. and also a good interface. Maybe there should be a couple of programs (modules) that are integrated to each other. Just a small change in the definition of the problem, may completely change how it should be solved and how difficult it is. www.informs.org has a list of resources, which may be helpful to you, if you don't already know about the site. Routeplanning is also an area, where you can never have too many CPU resources, so good algorithms are still important. I have been working 6 years on the subject as a user and on development. I would like to know if someone has been successful or other experiences, software's etc. We have been testing many software products but they have not been up to our demands of criteria and the result has not been very good. Any input on this would be great.
