Also also - do ESRI still include the 'boxes' the software runs on in their
turnover figures? Forgive me if I misunderstood this - they would often sell
the workstations/servers to support the operation of the software, which is
fair enough but in this context (direct SOFTWARE comparisons) perhaps a bit
misleading. I'd love to have this explained and sorry if I am wrong.

What about partners, who represent half (?) of MI sales?

I don't want to gripe too much since I'm working with ESRI more nowadays but
they have no compunction in tweaking MY nose over my MI past. And half of
them seem to have worked at the OS with me which makes it worse :-)

I have a question though.
    With Esri being overpriced, and under functional for the cost, Market
revenue is kind of a misleading research point.
    How about money earned per software seat?  How about seats sold
period?  What about cost per seat vs. income generated?
    I know this comes from a biased source (a MapInfo user working for a
"for profit" company) but can't we look at indicators that mean more to
either the users or the people who receive the services, rather than the
posturing of the companies?
