I think they only measure revenue from software sales because that's the most objective number available. It's hard to break sales into "seats" when some of the largest sales involve network licenses. And how would an outsider measure "income generated" by software users? We all know that using MapInfo makes our halo shine with brilliance, but how to put a dollar value to that? The numbers would be hard to collect and their precision would be rather subjective I think.
Those numbers represent only GIS software sales totaling $1.1 billion. There's another number mentioned there that's 5 times larger -- $5.4 billion -- that represents GIS Services and may be closer to what you'd like to see, but I don't have $6000 to buy the report from Daratech and see that breakdown. There is some more detail on that report at http://www.gismonitor.com/news/pr/110702_Daratech.php - Bill Thoen Rich Morris wrote: > > I have a question though. > With Esri being overpriced, and under functional for the cost, Market > revenue is kind of a misleading research point. > How about money earned per software seat?
