Checkout http://www.dbxgeomatics.com/ , the product is SVGMapMaker 2.0. A colleague and I have used it our web app. http://epiqms.doh.wa.gov <http://epiqms.doh.wa.gov/> The maps here are pretty simple, but that will change on the next version where we have several layers. Using SVGMapMaker is a whole lot cheaper with respect to software cost and time than making a map and going through A. Illustrator, and of course you get the full functionality of all the layers, etc. In some Intranet apps we have maps with lots of polygons (census tracts). I see no performance hit. Likely there is some threshold. Incidentally I have never had SVGMapMaker flop. It is solid. Also if you have ideas or questions, the developer listens and responds. Further SVGMapMaker is very, very easy to use. If you want to just make your SVG maps and then use the time saved to develop your website, then check this app out. Richard E.
