Hello Daniel,
You had written:

Does anybody know if the Universal Translator can be automated using
command lines. I have an Intergrated Mapping app using VB6. I have
created tables of various layers using a polygon. I now want to export
the new tables out as either dxf or shp. I can fire up the UT but would
like the ability to default the file types and directories when the UT
appears.

The UT in MapInfo is a subset of the FME translator. You can do what
you want here with our FME product. Visit www.safe.com to download a
free evaluation -- for your needs the "Desktop" edition would do the
trick. Search our website and also the archives for details on running
FME in batch mode, I think you'll find what you want. The FME Objects
developers API may also be of interest, that would give you complete
control to do what you need done -- more information on it, including a
quickstart, is available on our website as well.
Good luck!
Dale
