There is an option in AutoCAD Map to export AutoCAD files to shape files with a check box to convert closed polylines to regions. I've tried it but had poor results because the parcels I was trying to import were made up of lines, not polylines, and definitely not closed.
The same data however was converted and reprojected into shape files with very good results. So with better tools, even bad data can be salvaged. If you find what the magic combination is, I would like to know.

I have import a map from AutoCAD 12 format. However MapInfo reads the map as lines and not as Regions. Do any body know if there is any way to turn the lines of each polygon in a Region?, (to attaching later the data of all each Regions in a browser) because the function "convert to regions" do not seem to have any effect. Or in any case, could any body that use AutoCAD tell me how can I make each polygon a Region in that package?
Thank you.
