Abbi,
What coordinate system and projection are the images in? Are you georeferencing within MapInfo using the 'Modify Image Registration' or are you manaully editing the TAB file? If you are looking at shorelines you might be interested in TerraViewer from Mapping Solutions (www.mappingsolutions.com/terraviewer) which downloads aerial photographics over the internet and automatically georeferences them in MapInfo Pro. I think there is an eval version available.
