"New Mapper" will only bring in a new screen with the layers you choose.

It won't bring back the mapper window he was working in.

Frank: Try going to the Window pull-down menu, and hit New Mapper. It
may just pop up the map you were working on. If you haven't used the
Delete function or the official Close button, I believe MapInfo still
has it somewhere in the background. 

I may be all wet on this, but the few experiments I just ran seem to
indicate it might work.
