Matt, Although extremely inelegant, the labeller.mbx route will do the job. The step you are missing is to select all of the correctly sized labels and move them as a group. I like to key in on a critical area before resizing so I have a better idea on where to reposition. Then it's trial and error to get them exactly right. With all the labels selected, use shift-select twice (the first time deselects) to move the entire group.
