Cracked it - helpful and informative note from MI Windsor follows - you don't need spatial drivers to get at Spatialware for SQL Server, the ordinary Microsoft ones will do (shows how things change) -
"MapInfo Professional not longer ships with the Merant MapInfo SQL Server drivers so these drivers would be those installed by a previous version of MI Professional. I would recommend that connections are made using the Microsoft SQL Server driver. If you wish to remove the old MapInfo drivers, first delete/reconfigure DSNs using these drivers as you will not be able to delete existing DSNs without the Merant driver installed." If you're interested - deep breath - I'd got 7 (which DOES have the Merant drivers) and 7.5 on my machine, my colleague had 6 (old Merant drivers) and 7.5. Another mystery solved though I am going to try and do some metrics to see which driver is quicker ie Microsoft or Merant Paul Crisp Syntegra Innovation Place Delta Bank Road Newcastle NE11 9DJ Tel 0191 461 4522 Fax 0191 460 1987 -----Original Message----- From: CRISP, Paul -Syntegra UK Sent: 17 October 2003 11:49 To: MapInfo-L Subject: MI-L Spatialware - SQL Server - drivers - help? Hi there Strange but true - MI Pro 7.5 has installed v 4 MapInfo Spatialware drivers on my machine (and everything works fine) but the same disk has put v3.6 drivers on another machine and he can't use Pro with Spatialware at all - keeps getting 'unsupported data source' errors. Spatialware itself seems fine - ever bumped into something like this before? Its Spatialware for SQL Server by the way Thanks Paul Crisp Syntegra Innovation Place Delta Bank Road Newcastle NE11 9DJ Tel 0191 461 4522 Fax 0191 460 1987 ******************************************************************** This email may contain information which is privileged or confidential.
