Hi Nat,

By File Management I understand two things:
1. Managing the placement of the files (wor/tab), so that they can be easy found.
2. Managing the placement of the files (wor/tab), so that ther might as few conflicts
as possible, fore instance when moving them to another location.

The first issue can be made a lot easier if you fore instance as you allready have,
make shortscuts to your workspaces in difference places, but this might also conflict
with issue 2, becuase these shortcuts will not work after you have moved the files.
But then again i guess it pretty hard to come up with a solution that respects both
issues.

The solution mentioned by Melissa seems as a very good way of taking "back ups" of
tables and workspaces, but I'm not sure how it would handle that some tables are used
in several workspaces ?

One thing I have learned from looking at users here in Denmark is that they love an
easy access to their data. The best solution would be if the just would have a single
button that read their minds and so knew which tables/workspaces to open, but until
this solution will be availeble (and I guess the upcoming .NET version of MapInfo will
support this) they will have to do with less.

One solution could be to give them a number of buttons/menu items that when used open
a specified workspace or table. This could be combined with closing the allready open
tables. In this way the users don't need to know were the tables/workspaces actually
are placed, but often they have to any way. One existing solution for this could be a
freeware called Runner which can be found at our ftp: ftp.kampsax-gis.dk/pub/tools. It
comes in an English version, but there is also support for French and very important
Danish /who can live without it ?)

Of course this is a pretty simple solution, and in many cases users want more, so we
have also made a more specialized tool tor accesing tables and workspaces. This tool
can open a specified table into an existing mapper, and setting up the layer control
in a specified way for this table. Unfortunately we have not found the time to
translate this, yet. By the way it's called MultiTools, because it's has lots of
different funktionality besides the one metioned here.
