Colin What version of Vertical Mapper are you using. I have just finished a contouring job and I was able to stipulate the Minimum, and Maximum Levels and the Interval.
I am using Vertical Mapper 3. When I bring up the Grid Manager and Select Contour there is an Interval Button. This will let you specify these parameters.
