Hi Eric,

Thanks for the recommendations on the cutting/appending utilities - I did locate the
mbx's on the gisdirections
website. Guess that my question/inquiry should have been a bit more detailed - I am in
process of trying to locate
a GIS Tool that will perform the following file conversions and data manipulation
requirements:

        1. File Format Conversion -- Shown below is a list of file formats that we
would like to convert back and forth:
GeoBox, Planet/Asset, Arc Info Grid (ASCII), ArcView (Shape), MapInfo
(TAB, MID/MIF) AutoCad (DXF, DWG),
Table Files , TIFF/BMP, MrSID, TIGER/Line, DEM, BIL, PCX, DLG/SDTS and
Non-standard Files.

        2. In addition to file format conversion - the tool should be able to
manipulate the data in the following manner(s):

                - Geodetic Conversions (Projections, Ellipsoids and Geodetic Datums)
                - Creation of an Obstacle Database
                - Extraction of an area (Elevation/Clutter/Vectors) from a master
database to create a secondary map database
                - Create a key map to be tied to a Elevation/Clutter/Vector data
source.

I have managed to find only one company, Safe Software, who has indicated that they
have a tool that will handle the file format conversion. Would anyone have
recommendations as to a company that can handle the file format and GeoData
manipulation? TIA,

Frank

Hi Frank ,
There's a tool that I used alot and I tink it would work in your case it's
called: Cookie cutter

You cand just select what you want either by selecting from another layer
(like a city limit, boundry etc..) or just by making a polygon on a another
layer.
it's will cut your map just la a real cookie cutter would do and it
preserves everything.

As for you map merging I would try multipend (it's a multi append tool in
you tool folder) you could merges maps in to 1 big map or table.

Hope this helps, let me know if you don't have the cookie cutter tool, I
thinks it's calle cookie98.
