Robert I've sometimes got application errors of object operations like split or combine when I haven't sorted out the coordinate system to line the program up with the table - MI is them moving things in and out of Lat/long and it seems to give it a headache. Rounding errors actually trashed the object. In our example it was the Oracle database and the client that were out of step.
I would guess its worse on machines without a maths co-processor which might explain your varying results rather than the operating system. Perhaps it was just microsoft playing with my mind before, but for a little while after the previous posting, I was getting application errors whenever I tried that function, regardless of where my I set my temporary directory (note this has nothing to do with MapInfo or Microsfts temp directories), And then I got an error "Unable to allocate memory" on the line indicated below, which part of a very simple procedure: Select * From ~PaddockToBeSplit Fetch First From Selection -> IDColValue = IDColAlias2 <- Set Target On I then restarted the app and it worked fine, then restarted it again and it gave the unable to allocate memory error again....but on various lines that were select statements. Then restarted it again and seem to get application errors again. I did delete all the .TMP files in the temp directory of my user directory, and if anything it made it worse. I rebooted the machine, and it made no difference. I can almost always get to give an application error by splitting the object, combining it together again, and then splitting it again. Again these functions use fairly straightforward MI object routines. BTW, the temp directory that MI is writing its files to is user home dir/local settings/temp not user home dir as I stated before. Is the answer suggesting not to use MapInfo on XP and only on Win 2000? r -- Robert Crossley Agtrix P/L 9 Short St New Brighton 2483 Far Southern Queensland AUSTRALIA 153.549004 E 28.517344 S P: 02 6680 1309 F: New Connection M: 0419 718 642 E: [EMAIL PROTECTED] W: www.agtrix.com W: www.wotzhere.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message number: 10198 ******************************************************************** This email may contain information which is privileged or confidential.
