Quick survey,

Does anyone else able to get "Unable to allocate memory" errors? Are they only on XP - and under what conditions.

Paul Crisp suggested that the problem I have been getting may be setting the system projection to the same as the table being edited, but it already is.

One of the objects used in put into the table from the cosmetic layer - Should this have an effect at all? It is copied into the table before any operations are done on it.

Perhaps it was just microsoft playing with my mind before, but for a
little while after the previous posting, I was getting application errors whenever I tried that function, regardless of where my I set my temporary directory (note this has nothing to do with MapInfo or Microsfts temp
directories), And then I got an error "Unable to allocate memory" on the
line indicated below, which part of a very simple procedure:

Select * From ~PaddockToBeSplit
Fetch First From Selection
-> IDColValue = IDColAlias2  <-
Set Target On

I then restarted the app and it worked fine, then restarted it again and
it gave the unable to allocate memory error again....but on various lines that were select statements.

Then restarted it again and seem to get application errors again.

I did delete all the .TMP files in the temp directory of my user
directory, and if anything it made it worse.

I rebooted the machine, and it made no difference.

I can almost always get to give an application error by splitting the
object, combining it together again, and then splitting it again. Again
these functions use fairly straightforward MI object routines.

BTW, the temp directory that MI is writing its files to is user home
dir/local settings/temp not user home dir as I stated before.

Is the answer suggesting not to use MapInfo on XP and only on Win 2000?
